Northwood in Wesley Chapel, FL 33544: One of Wesley Chapel's oldest CDD communities: Pasco County created the Northwood district in April 1995, and the homes date mostly from the mid-1990s and early 2000s around a clubhouse, pool, tennis and basketball courts on Big Sur Dr, just north of the Hillsborough county line. Older dogs and second dogs are common in a 1990s neighborhood where owners have stayed put. The lake-and-walkway loops make an easy leash walk, at sunrise or after 7 p.m. in summer. We are just down Bruce B. Downs in New Tampa, and Wesley Chapel is where most of our visits are.

A pet visit here is a full 30 or 60 minutes: out, fed, watered, walked, played with, and a photo sent before we leave. In summer the walks are at sunrise and after 7 p.m., because the pavement on a Wesley Chapel, FL sidewalk at 2 p.m. in July is too hot for paws, and in the rainy season the storms come through between 3 and 6 in the afternoon, so afternoon visits are timed around them. Overnights in your own home ($95/night) keep the routine intact when you travel, and multiple drop-ins on the same day cover a long workday.
