What a visit looks like in Hunter's Green
Hunter's Green sits inside the Tampa city limits in New Tampa, Tampa, Florida, west of Highland Oak Dr and south of Cross Creek Blvd, just across the boulevard from us in Cross Creek. It was fully established in 1991, and it is one of the New Tampa communities with 24/7 manned gates: Gatehouse 1 on Bruce B. Downs and Gatehouse 2 on Cross Creek Blvd. Guests are registered through the association's FrontSteps system; the attendant asks for a destination, checks ID, and calls the resident if the name is not on the list, so we get on your list before the first visit.
The association runs the parks, courts and the off-leash dog park, and the country club is a separate membership with the Fazio course, tennis and a resort-style pool. Hunter's Green Elementary is on Highland Oak Dr, the community's eastern boundary, and the district locator zones the association office address to Hunter's Green Elementary, Benito Middle and Wharton High for 2026-27. Hillsborough County Public Schools runs on its own calendar, not Pasco's, which matters when the kids across the county line have a different spring break.
A 1991 community means a lot of original owners, and our Hunter's Green visits are often for a parent who is staying put: company and conversation, lunch made at home, laundry, a run to the store, or a ride to an appointment down Bruce B. Downs. For dogs, the jogging trail and the off-leash park are the draw; in summer we walk at sunrise or after 7 p.m. because of the pavement and the afternoon storms, and Flatwoods Park next door has the seven-mile paved loop for cooler mornings.
We live a few streets over in Cross Creek, on the same side of the county line.
Getting in
Both gatehouses are manned 24/7 (Gatehouse 1 on Bruce B. Downs, Gatehouse 2 on Cross Creek Blvd); the third, unmanned TAC gate closes at 10 p.m. daily. Register us as a guest through the association's FrontSteps system before the first visit; the attendant checks ID, and if a name is not on the list the attendant calls you, and no answer means no entry.
Amenities and who can use them
The amenity center is resident-fob restricted, so if you want us at the pool or clubhouse with your kids or your dog, we need your fob.
