Esplanade at Wiregrass Ranch in Wesley Chapel, FL 33543: Taylor Morrison's gated 55+ community inside Wiregrass Ranch, planned for 868 single-family and villa homes on more than 480 acres, with a guarded entry, a resort pool with poolside food and beverage service and a full-time lifestyle manager. The community has its own pet park, and owners travel for weeks at a time, so drop-in and overnight coverage matters more than a midday walk. We are just down Bruce B. Downs in New Tampa, and Wesley Chapel is where most of our visits are.

A pet visit here is a full 30 or 60 minutes: out, fed, watered, walked, played with, and a photo sent before we leave. In summer the walks are at sunrise and after 7 p.m., because the pavement on a Wesley Chapel, FL sidewalk at 2 p.m. in July is too hot for paws, and in the rainy season the storms come through between 3 and 6 in the afternoon, so afternoon visits are timed around them. A midday visit in summer is a shaded potty break and fresh water, not a long walk. The community trails give the 60-minute visit somewhere to go.

Esplanade has a guarded entry. Add us to your guest list before the first visit so the gate can admit us, and we confirm the authorization at the free meet and greet. One local listing guide notes the guard is not on duty around the clock, so ask your HOA how after-hours guests are admitted. The amenity center is resident-fob restricted, so if you want us at the pool or clubhouse with your kids or your dog, we need your fob. Esplanade empties out for stretches of the year, which is what home watch and pet overnights are for.
